After the first common Alpine-Carpathian exchange on ecological networks (Mikulov, CZ, September 2010; more information here ), the follow-up meeting will be organized again in the Carpathians. The workshop will take place from 20th to 22nd June in Romania, in the region of Sibiu.

The objectives of the meeting are the exchange of experiences of implementing of the methods and measures for the improvement of ecological connectivity, transfer of knowledges and intermediate results of the ECONNECT project to the Carpathians and establishment of the proposed “Platform on ecological connectivity in the Carpathians”. The results of this workshop will be directly used in the development of work program for the work package on Continuity and connectivity of the new project Bioregio Carpathians.

Provisional programme:

1st Day:

• Integration of measures for connectivity in the territorial planning strategies;
• Adaptation of spatial planning on local, regional and national level for the improvement of the ecological continuity

2nd Day:

• Stakeholder integration in the process of establishment of ecological networks;
• Common elaboration of a proposal for next steps for a good implementation of the ecological networks strategies in the Carpathians
