The 7th Nationalparks Austria Symposium will take place from September 7th to 9th 2022 in Vienna and once again, research in and about protected areas will be put in the spotlight. Therefor, the main focus will be on scientific contributions about valuable natural areas. In addition to lectures, discussions and poster sessions, excursions will also be part of the planned programme. The term biodiversity crisis is on everyone's lips and refers to the threatening loss of species and habitats worldwide. Fueled by climate change, it also poses new challenges for protected areas. The 7th Nationalparks Austria Symposium 2022 will address the role and contribution of protected areas to mitigate the biodiversity crisis. Therefor, the topic ’Protected Areas facing the biodiversity crisis’ will be discussed and worked on within this symposium. The University of Vienna’s campus Altes AKH will provide the premises, where the symposium will be held in English with some themed sessions in German. This event is organised by Nationalparks Austria in cooperation with the University of Vienna.
