Dear colleagues and friends,
We are already well into 2009 and the first big event in the Alpine protected areas' calendar has just ended: the Danilo Re Trophy 2009 and accompanying seminar on the return of large carnivores to the Alps. Both events were very well attended, with over 250 participants.
The Alpine Conference of Environment Ministers has just approved our work programme for 2009-10 and many Alpine protected areas work have already begun the planning phase for the creation of an ecological network under the aegis of the ECONNECT project.
Climate change and the ecological network will also be the subject of a major conference to be held in Berchtesgaden National Park (Germany) in the latter half of 2009.
