Registration for the 12th edition of Youth at the Top is now open. This year’s event will take place on July 16, 2026, including the night of July 16–17, or can be adapted to local conditions during the week of July 13–19, 2026.

On this shared day, protected areas and organizations across the Alps and Carpathians are invited to take groups of curious children and teenagers into the mountains and offer them a chance to experience nature in diverse and creative ways. Youth at the Top offers a unique opportunity to explore and learn about important topics at a local level in a creative and playful way. Activities encourage participants to experience nature with all their senses, while fostering awareness of living in harmony with the environment.

Educators from protected areas or organizations who would like to join this year’s edition are invited to register online before May 20, 2026.

Each year, participants are encouraged to work around a common theme to raise awareness of cultural, social, and ecological issues. The 2026 edition focuses on the topic “One Mountain - Many Ecosystems”. The theme highlights the diversity and interconnectedness of mountain ecosystems - from forests and alpine meadows to wetlands and rocky habitats - and explores how species, habitats, and human activities interact within these landscapes.
